Keys to Developing a Relationship With God
God desires for each of us to develop a personal relationship with Him.
The first step towards developing a relationship with the Living God is to receive Jesus Christ into our lives.
He said, "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6
The Bible teaches that "we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand. Romans 5:1-2
If you have never developed a relationship with The Living God, this study may be a help to you.
In preparation for this study, please read the following passages of Scripture. John 14:27, John 16:33, Ephesians 2:11-18, Romans 5:1-11, and Colossians 1:15-23
From these passages, we learn that God not only wants to have a relationship with us but that He has promised those who enter into relationship with Him a special peace.
Read the following passages and record how a person can know that they have entered into God's peace? Ephesians 2:1-14, John 3:1-8, Romans 8:5-17
According to the Bible, once a person has been born again what do they become? 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
What does God desire those whom have become His temple to do? 1 John 1:3-10, John 3:16-21, Romans 13:11-14, Ephesians 4:20
It is important to note that no one can "cast off the works of our own darkness" in their own strength and power. If it had been possible for us to do so, God would not have wasted His best by allowing His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins.
In other words, if you could have done anything that would have enabled you to change, or to save yourself, Jesus would not have had to die.
According to the Bible, there is only one who can help us to "cast off the works of darkness". Who is He?John 14:23-27, John 16:7-15, Galatians 5:16-26, Ephesians 1:14, Romans 8:22-39, Ephesians 3:14-21
What else will The Holy Spirit do in your life? John 16:8-15, Romans 7:21-8:13, 1 Peter 1:1-23
As you learn how to trust in, rely on, and depend upon the Holy Spirit, you will find that you are developing a peace filled relationship with the Living God.
As a result, you will also begin to understand why the highest goal any of us can ever strive for is to: "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not unto your own understanding, but in all of your ways acknowledge Him, in order that He can direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,6
"If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17
